  • Paint (or touch up) the home's exterior and repair screens and wash windows. Many buyers make their purchasing decision based on appearance when they first drive up to the house.
  • Make sure landscaping is spruced up – no dead or untrimmed trees and shrubs. Keep your lawn mowed, edged and manicured. Colorful seasonal flowers always help.
  • If you have a pool, make sure it is crystal clear and that all equipment is in good working order.
  • Keep pets out of the way during showings.
  • Tone down your creativity. Even though it’s your home and expresses your personality, buyers need a neutral palate in order to envision themselves in the house.
